This summer, he camped at Duke and North Carolina, with the latest being North Carolina.
”I went up there for Fedora’s Freak Show,” said the 6-foot, 185-pound Slade. “I liked the camp. It was fun and there was a lot of energy.
"It was the best camp I’ve ever been to. There was a lot of great talent and a lot of competition. I was there as a wide receiver and my favorite part was the one-on-ones with the corners."
While on campus, the West Forsyth standout also had a chance to talk to a few of the coaches.
”I spoke with (wide receivers) coach (Gunter) Brewer the most,” Slade said. “He told me he liked the effort I gave and how I performed.
”I also talked to coach (Larry) Fedora and he told me he wanted me to come back some games and practices this fall. We also talked about the academics at the school. It made me feel great that I got to talk to him one-on-one.”
With the season just weeks away, Slade has started thinking about visits this fall.
”Ohio State, West Virginia, North Carolina, Duke and Wake Forest have said they want me to come to games,” he said. “So, I’m going to try to get to all of them.”
West Forsyth opens their season this Friday at A.C. Reynolds at 7:30 p.m.
