Heck, who started all 13 games last season as a freshman, is currently listed at 6-foot-6, 300 pounds.
"It's amazing to see the transformation in Jon,” Fedora told Sports Illustrated on Wednesday. “Just listening to our strength coach, he said 'Jon Heck is a different kid.' It's amazing how he's transformed his body, his attitude, his work ethic, his grit - everything about him. I'm excited about seeing where he is this year."
Kapilovic also praised his starting right tackle following practice on Tuesday.
“He’s not even the same guy he was a year and a half ago,” Kapilovic said. “His strength has skyrocketed. He’s over a 300-pound cleaner now, a 400-pound bencher, and he wasn’t close to that. His running was really good. He’s in shape. His body has completely changed.”
Heck led the Tar Heels in penalties in 2013, so it would seem as though physical maturation should play a significant role in reducing the flag count and solidifying UNC’s right side.
