Shortly after camping at Duke, the Blue Devils became the first school to offer the 5-foot-8, 170-pound Rouse.
”When I was at the camp, the coaches moved me up to compete against the rising seniors and I did really well,” he said. “The camp was very organized and it was nice. After I left the camp, they offered me.
”I was definitely happy. I didn’t expect to get an offer from them. But that was the main goal this summer – to get one offer before the start of my sophomore season. I’m excited and I really like it up there. They’re a program on the rise.”
Along with the Blue Devils, Rouse is attracting interest from Clemson, North Carolina, NC State and Oregon
His most recent camp was North Carolina.
”It was nice up there, too,” Rouse said. “I had been up there before, so I felt at home. While I was there, I talked to (wide receivers) coach (Gunter) Brewer a lot. I felt like I did well at the camp and the coaches told me that they were going to stay in contact with me.
“After the camp, I talked to coach Brewer some more. He was asking me how school and told me to keep my grades up. They also took me on a tour of the whole campus. Coach Brewer is cool and North Carolina was one of the first schools I had contact with in the recruiting process.”
In regards to the rest of the summer, Rouse is done with camps and visits. However, he plans to attend games at Duke, North Carolina and Clemson this fall.
