University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino was told his team had been picked to finish third in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
And he just smiled.
"Obviously, we have higher expectations than that," Petrino said during the ACC Kickoff at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
The Cardinals were picked third in the division in the poll of the media members. Florida State was picked to win the Atlantic Division and the overall ACC title.
The defending national champion Seminoles received 109 of 112 votes in the division and 104 of 108 in the overall poll.
Clemson was second and Louisville was third. Clemson and Virginia Tech received two votes apiece to win the overall title. Miami was picked to win the Coastal Division.
"We know it's a great league and we're going to have tough games every week," Petrino said. "But I like our team. I like our chances."
