#2 Safety Zedrick Woods had 94 tackles and 7.5 sacks last season for Columbia North high school's defense last season. When you watch his film it is easy to see why the Rebels targeted Woods. He fits in perfectly for the Husky position in the 4-2-5 scheme that Ole Miss uses for the majority of snaps.
Woods brings speed and even more speed to the table. The 200 pound defender is explosive to the ball, will put the big hit on you, and is able to cover the slot receivers underneath in coverages. This is what made Mike Hilton and Tony Conner so effective in Ole Miss defense while playing the Husky position. You have to have a defensive backs speed and quickness but also be able to take on the blockers and get loose in a hurry to make the tackle.
Zedrick ran a 4.48 forty by the laser at the Ole Miss camp which was the fastest time for any camper in any of the camps.
