Price Lost For The Season

Ejuan Price will miss the 2014 season due to a torn left pectoral injury, suffered this week.

Pittsburgh head coach Paul Chryst announced on Wednesday that junior defensive end Ejuan Price will have a season-ending surgery this week, to repair a torn left pectoral injury.

Price was injured this week during a workout.

"We are incredibly disappointed for Ejuan," Pitt head coach Paul Chryst said. "We will do everything we can to help him stay encouraged and focused through this challenge."

Price was off to a strong start in 2013, moving to a new position of defensive end, before he suffered a season-ending back injury against Old Dominion on October 19. He finished with 23 tackles, four for a loss, a sack and a pass breakup in six games. He also took a redshirt year in 2012, also due to a pectoral injury.

Price was expected to be a major contributor at defensive end this season. Pitt announced in March that redshirt senior defensive end Bryan Murphy was not returning to the team. Redshirt senior David Durham and sophomore Shakir Soto started at defensive end in the Little Caesars Bowl. With the loss of Price, Pitt will probably look to some of the freshmen or redshirt freshmen to fill in, or possibly even junior Nicholas Grigsby who played some defensive end in the spring.
