Pro-Am League: Monday Results

Despite a rally in the second half by Cameron Johnson and Sheldon Jeter, they can't rally their team to a win. Playoff matchups set for Wednesday.

System One 118 Bakery Square 102
A high-scoring affair saw System One (5-1) lock up the No. 3 seed, with a 118-102 win over Bakery Square (2-4)

System One--playing with just six players--was led by Pittsburgh's Mike Young, who finished with 31 points and 13 rebounds. All six players finished in double-figures. Following Young, Marquese Reed finished with 26, Micah Mason had 21, L.G. Gill had 20.

Pitt's Joseph Uchebo is on pace to finish as the league's leading rebounder. He led Bakery Square in the loss with 36 points and 21 rebounds.

Shale Attorney 103 GNC 94
Shale Attorney got in the win column (1-5) with a 103-94 win over GNC (1-5), gaining a tie-breaker in the process, avoiding last place.

Rene Castro finished with 45 points in the win for Shale Attorney--the most for a player in the Pro-Am League since former Pitt player Keith Benjamin scored 51 points in 2007.

Castro was 17-24 from the field, including an 8-9 performance from three-point range.

Pitt's Jamel Artis--playing the first of his two games on Monday night--led GNC with 28 points, on 9-18 shooting. Artis also finished with eight rebounds, sparking a 35-28 edge on the glass for his team, despite the loss.

UPMC 98 South Hills Audi 88
UPMC (5-1) knocked South Hills Audi (5-1) from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 98-88 win. In the process, UPMC clinces the top overall seed for the upcoming playoffs.

Pitt's Chris Jones led the way with 28 points, shooting a near flawless 12-15 from the field. Desmond Rideau added 27.

South Hills Audi was playing without Lance Jeter--who set a Pro-Am League record in his last outing, with 16 assists. Former Pitt player John DeGroat led the way with 26 points. Pitt freshman Cameron Johnson added 23 points behind a 10-17 shooting performance, but was just 3-9 from three-point range. Sheldon Jeter added 12.

It was a close game for the first 17 minutes, before UPMC broke away with a four-point lead, with 4:30 left in the first half. They were able to pull away for a 47-36 halftime lead, including a halfcourt shot at the buzzer, to make it a double-digit lead.

South Hills Audi could not come any closer than six points. That came after a three-pointer from Jeter made it a 92-86 deficit, with 1:17 left to play.

PGT 101 CRONS 99
A putback at the buzzer made the difference, as PGT (3-3) was able to hold off CRONS (2-4), 101-99.

Despite the loss, Derrick Colter finished with what is believed to be the first triple-double in Pro-Am League history--33 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists. Colter was 7-12 from three-point range, which led his team back in the second half

PGT held a 54-48 lead at halftime, but led by as many as eight in the second half, before PGT mounted the comeback. Lucky Jones, scored two of his team-high 28 points, on an assist from Randall, giving his team a 93-91 lead with just over a minute to play.

Colter tied the game with one of his seven three-pointers, 99-99, with siz seconds left. After calling a timeout on the inbounds pass, Randall put in the putback underneath off a miss from Pitt teammate Josh Newkirk, as time expired.

Randall finished with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds. Newkirk finished with 19 poitns, while Jeremiah Jones finished with 24 in the win.
