The Opening: Previewing Ben Hicks

Ben Hicks is profiling each member from the Midlands Region heading to The Opening next week at Nike's headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, and in this installment we look at Houston three-star quarterback commit Ben Hicks.

Ben Hicks

7v7 Team: Elite 11
Position: QB
HT: 6'2 | WT: 192
Midway (Texas)

Recruiting: Hicks was starting to pick up steam, but made his commitment to stay in-state and play for Houston over offers from schools like Vanderbilt and Southern Miss. The Cougars look to only sign one quarterback and Hicks is the guy.

Scouting Report: Hicks is a fiery player on the field, who is not afraid to push the action and take chances with the football. It usually works in his favor as he has a good completion percentage. He can pull it down and run when needed, but has a quick release and solid arm, so going forward he will be solid in the pocket.

At Stake: Hicks comes in to the even with little rankings pressure, being the only three-star rated prospect from region, but that probably only drives him further to show his mettle. Look for him to be solid in all phases, as he is a fierce competitor. Strong showing could have his stock on the rise. Recommended Stories
