Clemson and UNC battled neck-and-neck for Mollette since the end of the football season. The battle amplified when his mother began accompanying him on recruiting trips. Clemson took the lead after he and his mother visited the school in April. After Mollette and his mother visited Chapel Hill in early May, UNC pulled ahead and never relinquished that advantage.
UNC assistant coach Chris Kapilovic served as the point man for Mollette's recruitment. Gunter Brewer, the Tar Heels' wide receivers coach, provided a strong assist during the latter stages.
Mollette is UNC's 13th overall commitment in the 2015 class and first wide receiver.
