  • Recruiting: Mississippi State was first to offer and it won out in the end. The Bulldogs beat out the likes of Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss for Dear.

  • Scouting Report: Dear is a versatile athlete who does a little of everything at Murrah High School. His versatility is used there and it will be used at Mississippi State too.

It looks like Dear is going into MSU as a slot receiver first, but he will take more than just his receiving hands with him. He is built like a running back and he has good balance, and he is tough to tackle one-on-one. He can make the first guy miss in space and he will be difficult for a defensive back to tackle.

His speed is good and he shows good quick feet when he gets the ball in his hands. He is shifty and he can make that quick, subtle move in short space to by defenders.

What makes some look at him as a receiver-first is his hands. He is a very natural receiver and he runs sharp, crisp routes with quick cuts, and the ability to separate from defenders underneath.

Overall, Dear is a weapon that can be used multiple ways on the offensive side. He can run, catch, and make the big plays. He is built more like a running back, so do not be surprised if he is used out of the backfield some. He has a good blend of power, balance, and quickness when he has the football.
