Irish offer FL athlete

2015 athlete Javarius Davis breaks down his most recent offer from Notre Dame, and he explains his timetable for decision, his plans for the summer, and how Notre Dame is standing out in his recruitment.

Notre Dame offered junior athlete Javarius Davis of Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White on Thursday afternoon.

"I was surprised about this offer," Davis said, who added an offer from USC this week as well. "The Irish are big time, with a prestigious program, good staff, good school and great fans."

The three-star, who has over 30 offers, was offered by Notre Dame as an athlete.

"I play cornerback, strong safety, wide receiver, and running back for my high school," Davis said. "Coach (Tony) Alford told me Notre Dame really likes me, and he wants me to come up to their camp on June 20."

Davis has visited Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech, Miami and North Carolina so far this year. He named Clemson, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Penn State and USC as his front-runners in June, but has since reopened his recruitment more.

"I don't have any favorites right now, but I will probably come out with a top eight in the next month or so," Davis said. "I could even decide on a school this summer."

Davis hasn't nailed down which schools he'll be visiting this summer.

"I have to sit down with my dad in a week and we're going to make a list of schools to visit this summer," Davis said. "Hopefully, I can visit Notre Dame."

Despite not having an official group of leaders, the 5-foot-10, 176-pound athlete did name the schools that we're recruiting him hardest.

"Clemson, Miami, UNC, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Maryland," Davis said.

"I am taking my time and trying to make the right decision," Davis said. "I would to go to a school with a great physical therapy program and place that feels like home. I want my mom to really the school, too."

As a junior, Davis had 79 carries for over 900 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 240 yards and two scores. On the defensive side of the ball he had 29 tackles, 10 pass breakups, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
