South: 2016 Ranking update

Divine Deablo

Prospects out of five states added stars this week on Scout and we take a look at those right here…

North Carolina led the way with three prospects being named four stars on Scout this week.

Two of the three are wide receivers; Cornell Powell out of Greenville J.L. Rose and Divine Deablo out of Winston-Salem Mount Tabor. Both have impressive offer lists and Scout expects both to pass the double-digit mark soon.

Deablo is a 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and Powell is 6-1, 190 pounds. Both are explosive playmakers.

The third out of N.C. is defensive end Jimmie Taylor IV out of Jacksonville Southwest Onslow. Taylor is a 6-3, 220 pound end with good speed off the ball and a frame that carry more weight.

The states of Arkansas and Georgia each had two prospects elevated to four stars this update. Quarterback Kasey Ford (6-5, 247 pounds) out of Bentonville and defensive tackle Austin Capps (6-3, 309 pounds) out of Star City are those out of Arkansas, the Natural State.

Louisville offered Ford last week and that is his lone offer. Arkansas is the only school to offer Capps to this point; both will add many more.

In Georgia, cornerback Chad Clay, son of former college and NFL star Willie Clay and defensive tackle Michail Carter added stars. Clay is a physical corner with ball skills out of Marietta Walton. Carter is a strong and agile interior defensive tackle out of Jackson.

Shyheim Carter and Emmit Gooden are the other two that joined the stars list. Carter is a 5-11, 184 pound corner out of Kentwood (La.) who is one of the fastest sophomore prospects in his state and Gooden (6-4, 257 pounds) is out of Brownsville (Tenn.) Haywood and he plays defensive end. Plenty of schools are evaluating Carter and Gooden is a former Tennessee commitment.

90 2016 prospects out of the south now have four or five stars on Scout and you can look for the initial rankings to go live very early in June.
