Jordan spent the last two seasons on Larry Fedora's staff in Chapel Hill, including overseeing Gio Bernard's ACC-leading 2012 campaign. Bernard was the first running back taken in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Jordan is a UNC graduate, running for 1,134 career yards from 1989-92. He played nine seasons in the NFL.
Prior to UNC, Jordan coached at Nebraska ('04-07) and Texas A&M ('08-11).
He is the third assistant coach to leave the Tar Heel staff this offseason. Offensive coordinator Blake Anderson took the head coaching job at Arkansas State last month and brought tight end coach Walt Bell with him to serve as offensive coordinator.
There's another opening on the UNC football coaching staff, as running back coach Randy Jordan is headed to the NFL. The Washington Redskins announced their hiring of Jordan on Saturday evening.
UNC's running back coach departs after two seasons.
