CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Junior ram Brandon Ellerbe and red-shirt freshman tight end Terrence Knox are not enrolled for the spring semester, a UNC spokesperson confirmed on Friday night.

There is a possibility that both players could return to the team by August for the 2014 season.

Ellerbe, hailing from Wadesboro, N.C., played in all 13 games in 2013 on defense and special teams. The 6-foot, 220-pounder finished the season with 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a blocked kick PAT at Virginia Tech. Ellerbe started two games last fall, but turned in his best performance in the 39-17 Belk Bowl victory over Cincinnati. In that win, the junior tallied five tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Knox, a Concord, N.C. native, enrolled at UNC in January 2012 and red-shirted the following fall. He was listed fourth on the depth chart at tight end in 2013.
