Linebacker P.J. Clyburn, from Statesville, N.C., sat out 2013 spring practice with a serious shoulder injury suffered during the 2012 season. He played in six games in 2012, during which he recorded three tackles and three quarterback hurries, before suffering the injury and missed the second half of the season. He saw action on special teams in 2011 as a redshirt freshman.
Offensive lineman T.J. Leifheit was a four-star recruit and prep All-American out of Wilmington (N.C.) Hoggard. He suffered a left ankle injury prior to his UNC enrollment, which has plagued him ever since and limited his play. Ankle surgery in 2010 led to a redshirt season, which was followed by a second surgery on the ankle in 2011.
Wide receiver Reggie Wilkins missed the 2012 season and 2013 spring practice due to a hip injury. The Shelby, N.C. speedster had four catches for 53 yards and a touchdown during his redshirt freshman season in 2011, before an ankle injury sidelined him for the last five games of the year.
