Police also seized a 9mm handgun, a magazine with nine rounds of ammunition and a plastic bag containing 41.1 grams of marijuana that were found outside of the car. The owner of those items has not been identified.
"The Durham Police Department does not anticipate filing any additional charges in this case," Durham Police Department spokesperson Kammie Michael wrote in an email to InsideCarolina.com on Wednesday.
Michael added that the police department would not be releasing any additional information regarding the incident.
Hairston is due to appear in district court on Aug. 6.
Hairston's passengers, Miykael Faulcon and Carlos Sanford, were also both charged with possession of marijuana.
