Barnett had 19 points in a losing effort to rival St. Louis (Mo.) Chaminade on Friday night. Despite the loss it was obvious that Barnett really has made strides with his game since the summer.
"I think my season has been alright," said Barnett. "It hasn't been great, but it has been alright. I am averaging a career high which I should be. I am happy with how I am handling the ball better and how I am rebounding more. I have to stay attacking. I am happy that I am attacking the basket and getting more good looks."
He continued, "I've been working on my jump shot in the summer and it is falling a little bit. I am just trying to stay confident and get my shots up."
On the recruiting front, several schools have been in to see Barnett in recent weeks.
"This winter Harvard, Florida, North Carolina last week, Purdue, Michigan State, and Missouri have all been in," Barnett listed.
UNC assistant coach Steve Robinson traveled to St Louis on Jan. 18 and saw Barnett post 33 points and 14 rebounds. He said he'd return in a couple weeks. Turns out he's bringing someone with him.
Head coach Roy Williams is expected in St. Louis next week to evaluate Barnett.
"That's a huge deal," Barnett said of Williams' visit. "That is one of the biggest coaches in NCAA basketball. To have him come watch me is a big deal. I really appreciate that."
Following the game Barnett's father indicated that a visit to Florida is set for February 9. Barnett himself isn't positive that the trip has been finalized, but he did indicate he wants to get to Florida soon.
"We were going to go last week, but then something came up, but I definitely plan to get there at some point," said Barnett of the Gators.
