Tavarez Departs Duke Football Program

School has announced the Atlanta area prospect's departure from the program.

DURHAM, N.C. – Redshirt freshman safety Chris Tavarez is no longer a member of the Duke football program, head coach David Cutcliffe announced on Tuesday.

"After meeting with Chris, it was determined that it is in everyone's best interest for him to depart our program, effective immediately," Cutcliffe said.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Tavarez appeared in seven games this season, recording two tackles.
