"I went to the FBU Top Gun Camp and did very well. I trained with guys who were going to be seniors and got defensive lineman MVP of the camp."
At this early point in time, McKenzie says he has not heard from any schools yet, but the schools he would like to hear from are Miami (FL), Oklahoma, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Tennessee, LSU, and Florida State.
His father, Reggie McKenzie, played in college, in the NFL, and is now the general manager of the Oakland Raiders. Being around football as much as he has throughout his childhood has accelerated Kahlil's progress in his own playing exploits.
"It's helped me a lot. I get to learn a lot from people who are already in the NFL and what it takes to get there," he explained.
He also is not getting too ahead of himself. Colleges will come calling and some will invite him to come visit their schools, but he is not ready for that step yet.
"No I'm not taking visits this year. I would miss too much school."
