Jones Accepts UNC Offer

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- Shortly after receiving a scholarship offer from North Carolina on Friday, Roanoke Rapids defensive lineman Nazair Jones committed to the Tar Heels.

"I just committed to the University of North Carolina," Jones told Inside Carolina.

Jones suffered an illness late last season that gave many programs pause in offering him a scholarship. He was recently cleared for athletic participation and was on UNC's campus on Friday working out at the 7-on-7 Camp when the Tar Heels formally offered.

After discussing the development with his inner circle, Jones accepted the offer. He chose UNC over South Carolina and Ohio State, and also received interest from Clemson, Miami, Tennessee, and Virginia.

The 6-5, 245-pound defensive lineman joins a pipeline from Roanoke Rapids that includes current Tar Heels Kareem Martin, J.J. Patterson and alumni Darrius Massenburg.
