North Carolina Named NCAA Regional Host

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina claimed its fourth ACC Coastal crown in the last seven years and finished the year with 15 wins in 16 tries which earned the Tar Heels one of 16 NCAA Regional hosts for the 2012 NCAA Baseball Championship, the NCAA announced Sunday.

The Tar Heels (44-14) will host a regional for the seventh time in school history and sixth time in the last seven years. They will find out who join them next weekend at Boshamer Stadium when the 64-team field is announced on ESPNU's selection show at 12 p.m. on Monday.

Play begins Friday, June 1, and runs through Sunday, June 3. A seventh game will be played Monday, June 4, if needed.

All-session tickets are available during an exclusive presale to supporters of the baseball program. Should tickets remain after the presale, all session regional packages will go on sale to the general public at 8:00 pm Wednesday May 30th.

The priority deadline to request tickets is Wednesday, May 30th at 12:00 pm. Qualifying presale groups include Active Rams Club Members, Season and Mini Season ticket holders, Members of the Diamond Heels, as well as UNC Students and Faculty Staff.

A complete schedule for the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional will be announced Monday.

Carolina was 28-9 in the friendly confines of Boshamer Stadium this season, including nine straight wins at home to close the season. Since 2006, the Tar Heels are 15-0 in regional play as the host institution.
