Brown Goes No. 52 to Tennessee

North Carolina linebacker Zach Brown was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the second round with the No. 52 overall pick in the NFL Draft on Friday.

Brown becomes the second Tar Heel chosen in the 2012 draft, following Quinton Coples' selection in the first round on Thursday night.

"I'm happy to be a Titan," Brown told reporters in his Titans conference call. "It feels good."

The Columbia, Md. native is considered raw by most NFL scouts and projects as a 4-3 outside linebacker for the Titans . He checked in at 6-foot-1 and 244 pounds at the NFL combine and clocked a 4.5 40-yard dash.

"We got a guy we think is versatile, that can play the weakside backer," Titans head coach Mike Munchak said. "We like to bring that linebacker, he's someone who has good rush skills, having five sacks this year as an outside linebacker that's something we really haven't had from that position. The fact that he can cover and run with the people that we have to cover in our division... there's a lot of things he offers."

Brown offered a similar description when breaking down his strengths.

"I can do a little bit of everything -- I can blitz, I can cover, I can stop the run," he said. "I'm just a linebacker. If you ask me to do something, I can do it."

One scouting critique has called into question Brown's ability to play physical at the point of attack, but he's ready to prove those critics wrong.

"Well, it's a knock, but we're just going to have to see now," Brown said. "Everybody that said that's the knock, they're going to find out when the season comes."

The former track star also worked out for Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore and the New York Jets.

Brown led North Carolina with 105 tackles and added 13.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and three interceptions in 2011.
