MacKinnon joins Marshall staff

Posted Jun 25, 2003

Former North Carolina assistant Bob MacKinnon has joined the Marshall coaching staff. He is the final member of the Matt Doherty staff to land a job elsewhere (Doug Wojcik to Michigan State, Fred Quartlebaum to Iowa State, David Cason to Manhattan and L.J. Hepp to Stanford).

McKinnon (43) will serve as Senior Assistant for the Thundering Herd. A veteran coach and talented recruiter, MacKinnon most-recently served on the staff of Matt Doherty at the University of North Carolina.

“Bob has had tremendous experience, both as a head coach and as an assistant in two of the top leagues in the country,” Jirsa said. “He has strong connections all over the country and is accustomed to competing on the highest levels in the ACC and Big East. He will be a valuable asset to our program at Marshall.”
