This past Friday, Switzer and his father visited UNC. He was scheduled to take his fifth visit to Penn State, his leader, this weekend but that trip was canceled shortly after his visit to Chapel Hill.
Switzer picked UNC over finalists Penn State and West Virginia. He also had offers from Arizona, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Purdue and Wake Forest.
As a junior, Switzer accumulated over 3,000 yards and 45 touchdowns on offense while leading Washington to the WVSSAC AAA State title game.
UNC is recruiting Switzer for the A-back position.
Switzer's head coach Steve Edwards confirmed the commitment to the MetroNews.
"I was just happy he's happy. He's really weighed this decision around. He made visits to everywhere he was interested in going to, he's seen what they had to offer," said Edwards. "I told him 'what ever you feel good with, I feel good with'. Did it surprise me? It surprised me how soon he did it, but other than North Carolina, not after talking to him and the family included me in on the process."
"He called me and said 'coach I'm going to do it'. I just said 'young man just make sure you take that deep breath and once you do it it's a commitment. There's no going back.' I knew before hand and as soon as he did it he called me back and said it was done and we all had a nice celebration," said Edwards.
