Jordan Completes UNC's Coaching Staff

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Former Texas A&M running backs coach and Tar Heel standout Randy Jordan has accepted the running backs coach position at North Carolina, according to multiple sources.

Jordan joined Nebraska's coaching staff as running backs coach in 2004 and coached four years in Lincoln before joining Mike Sherman's staff at Texas A&M in the same role in 2008 and coaching through 2011. His first coaching job came as a special teams assistant with the Oakland Raiders in 2003.

Jordan started his NFL career with the L.A. Raiders in 1993 and joined the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995. He scored the very first touchdown in Jacksonville's history with a 71-yard reception against Cincinnati in 1995. Jordan played nine years as a running back in the NFL.

Jordan played under Mack Brown at UNC from 1989-92. He rushed for 1,134 yards and nine touchdowns in his career, including 618 yards and seven touchdowns in 1991. The Manson, N.C. native earned his degree in speech communication from UNC in 1993. Jordan is married to Romonda and the couple has three children, daughter Raven and sons Jalen and Justin.
