In January, Drew Williamson accepted an offer from Matt Doherty, then coach at North Carolina, to be an invited walk-on to the Tar Heels. That’s often accompanied with a scholarship later in a player’s career. But with North Carolina making a coaching change to Roy Williams last month, Williamson became less certain about his status. The player’s mother, Vera Williamson, said her son and Williams never discussed his status, though he did speak to new North Carolina assistant coach Steve Robinson.
