Entry #12: Roommates
I’ll be rooming together with Tyler Alberts, Miller Snyder, and Jack Tabb.
Tyler and I chill all the time, so it was an easy decision to room together. Tyler is friends with Jack, so he picked Jack to join us. And Coach Mo’ just threw Snyder in there with us, because we asked him who else could be our fourth roommate. Coach Mo’ said, “Snyder is smart and he’ll keep you guys in line.” We all thought that was a good idea.
Ultimately, though, the four of us are Coach Mo’s guys. So don’t be surprised if Coach Mo’ ends up sleeping on our couch some nights. Or maybe we all will be at his house sleeping on his couch.
We’re all on the same team, obviously. We all have the same goals. So we’re just going to live together as roommates and have fun like college kids would. We’re going to get everything we need to get done and hopefully we’re going to wake up on time – that’s why we have Snyder.
Since I always chill with Tyler, let me talk about him in a little bit more detail.
Even though we seem very different on the outside – I’m from the northeast and go to a public school in Greensboro, and he goes to a private school in the country – we think just alike. What I’m thinking in a situation, he’s usually thinking it, too. And then we just get it done.
Coach Mo’ first told me about Tyler right about when he committed. He said, “There’s this kid Tyler that’s close to you that lives in Winston-Salem.” So I thought, “I’m going to have to find him.” Next thing you know, he texts me out of the blue.
The first time we ever saw each other, Tyler came to a volleyball game at my school. We were just hanging out, and watching the volleyball game. The next week, I went to a basketball game at his previous high school, West Forsyth, with him. We just kept chilling and talking – and we just bonded automatically. Now, I consider him like my best friend.
Before Easter, we had a little sample of being roommates. I stayed at his house for a few days. It was cool. We went to the YMCA and we were just dunking on everybody, throwing each other alley-oops, and all kinds of stuff. Afterwards we were like, “We’re trying out for UNC’s basketball team. If we don’t make the team, we’re going to get a team of football players together and show them how it’s done.” Tyler Zeller is the only one I’ll have to worry about.
I don’t know Jack Tabb. I’ve never talked to him. I might have commented on a Facebook message on Tyler’s page that Jack commented, too – but that’s about it. All I know is we will be in the tight end competition during training camp.
I met Miller for the first time at the spring game. That dude is funny and it’s that dry kind of funny. He’s definitely a kicker.
