J.J. Patterson informed Inside Carolina that he made a verbal commitment to North Carolina on Saturday following the Tar Heels' Spring Game.

Patterson, a 6-foot-4, 310-pound defensive tackle from Roanoke Rapids (N.C.), selected UNC over scholarship offers from East Carolina and NC State.

The four-star prospect is a standout on both the offensive and defensive line for Roanoke Rapids, but is primarily being recruited as a defensive tackle by UNC.

Patterson ended his junior season with 62 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and two block kicks.
