Opening comments:
“I don’t really even know where to start other than how proud I am of our football team. Tonight, to be honest with you, was a microcosm of the whole season. It seems like every week there has been drama and adversity and challenges, and that’s kind of the way this entire football game went. I think our kids proved again tonight their resiliency and their refusal to surrender in the face of adversity, to just keep fighting and play as hard as they could. It took an awful lot of kids, it took a lot of guys to win this game tonight. There were a lot of unsung heroes. T.J. had a phenomenal night. Dwight Jones had a great night.

“There were some things that we did very well, but for guys who nobody would ever mention their names probably, but there were guys volunteering on the sidelines to come in and play on special teams. Guys were getting injured and taking themselves out of the ball game… We probably had a half of a dozen guys that had to play special teams in the second half that don’t even practice special teams. Guys were saying, ‘Coach, give me a chance, put me in and I’ll do the best I can.’ How can you not love a football team that has that kind of attitude?

“Obviously, we created an awful lot of drama there at the end. It’s so uncharacteristic to have the ball snapped over the punter’s head. Mark [House] has done a phenomenal job his entire career. I know he felt bad, I know C.J. [Feagles] felt bad. But then probably the single best drive, in my opinion, that our football team has had since I’ve been the football coach here, was the answering drive that drove the length of the field and kicked the field goal there at the end, in a hostile environment against a talented football team with an unbelievable emotional high, and to be able to click off some first downs and move the ball down there. I thought at one point we might actually get it in the end zone and score a touchdown, which would have relieved a little bit of the drama. I’m just very proud of these kids.”

T.J. YATES

On UNC’s success in the passing game:
"We knew we were going to have matchups underneath. We were kind of on a hot streak."

On his thoughts heading into the game-winning drive:
“We knew that we were rolling offensively and we just had to keep going. We had a lot of confidence going into that drive and I don’t think there was a doubt in anybody’s mind that we were going to drive down the field.”

DEUNTA WILLIAMS

On the defense’s second-half turnaround:
“We manned up and we said, ‘Look, we understand that we can go out there and play with these guys, we’ve just got to do what we’ve got to do. We moved Jabari [Price] in there and he did a heck of a job at the boundary corner this game. We stopped the run and took away the bubble, and that’s all they really had on us in the first half.”

On Hopkins’s missed field goal at the end:
“I don’t know – I knew he was going to miss it. If we had to go up and block it, or if we all rushed and were all out, we just believed that it wasn’t going to go in. We all believed that on the field and it was just a wonderful feeling seeing him miss it. I can't really describe it.”

DWIGHT JONES

On 5-foot-8 FSU cornerback Greg Reid:
"We watched a lot of film. We weren't planning on going at him because of his size."

Did you trip yourself on that long pass in the third quarter?
“Yeah, I tripped on my foot. I guess the field had a hole in it, but yeah, I tripped over my foot.”

How’s your confidence right now?
“I feel the same. It’s nothing new. I know what I’m capable of. Just trying to be very humble. Coach is just giving me opportunities to make plays and I’m trying to execute them to the best of my ability.”

CASEY BARTH

On FSU kicker Dustin Hopkins’s miss at the end:
“I felt terrible for him. I’ve been there and missed a field goal to the right. It’s the worst feeling in the world and I hate that he had to miss two of them.”

On experience playing a role:
“It felt a lot like Virginia Tech out there. It was so loud, but I was like, ‘I’ve been here before, I can do this.’”

C.J. FEAGLES
Listen to Audio (2:10)

On UNC winning the game:
“Obviously, I didn’t want the game to end up with them being victorious because of my mistake, but I’m real happy that Casey made the field goal.”

What happened on that play?
“The ball just went over my head and I thought that you could kick it out of the end zone. I didn’t know you had to be in the end zone when you kick it. I’m not sure what yard line I was on, but I was still in the field of play when I kicked it and I just wasn’t aware of that part of the rule.”
